Why I Am Blogging

I am a communicator.  I am a pastor, speaker and hope to be an author someday.  What I do requires communication.  I want to communicate with people particularly about things that I think have great significance, like God.

This site is called "Much of God" because I decided I wanted my life to make much of God, the only One worthy of praise and the only One that can truly satisfy our lives.  He is the one that offers eternal life, (John 3:16), eternal pleasures, (Psalm 16:11) forgiveness and healing, (Psalm 103:3) and peace (John 15:27).  God is love (1 John 4:16) and the way, the truth and the life. (John 14:6)

Hence God is worth communicating about.

I am a local church pastor and a campus minister and a husband and I will use these experiences among others to bring to the surface issues that deserve more time to think about.

John Piper has inspired me much in my life.  If you truly want to visit a great site, get great messages and read a great blog I highly recommend going to his ministry's site, www.desiringgod.org.  In one of his blogs, he listed six reasons why Pastor's should blog.  So, I am now going to blog.

So what should you expect from my blogs:

1.  My thoughts (these are not to be taken as God's authoritative thoughts, simply one man's opinion).

2.  God influenced thoughts (my previous statement does not mean I will not take seriously my role as a spiritual leader, but I will write as one who is trying to reflect from a godly perspective).

3.  Provocative thoughts (my desire is to provoke people to think deeper about God, their relationship to God, the world at large and each one's daily choices).

4.  Weekly or bi-weekly thoughts (I will try to get something new and fresh pretty regularly.  If not each week, at least every two weeks).

5.  Political thoughts?  Social issue thoughts?  (Probably.  I have not decided yet how far to take these, but hey, since I am already delving into religion, politics may not be a bad next step.  Just remember expectation number one.  I do not presume to speak God's actual thoughts so feel free to differ).

Hope you enjoy my blogs as much as I intend to.
